Microsoft is ramping up their game in the tech world, with new technology and programs coming out for the world to see. As a mutli-billion dollar company with some of the most expansive resources and control on the technological market, these new products could make the company grow even further.
Let’s start with Windows 10. Windows 10 is the next windows after Windows 8, which was mainly considered to be a disaster. This, however, could be part of a predictable trend with Microsoft products; Windows XP was great, Windows Vista wasn’t so much, Windows 7 was great, and Windows 8 wasn’t. So the question is… What will Windows 10 bring? The hope is that Windows 10 will bring more efficiency and greater usability without feeling like the operating system is only designed for tablets. That’s the hope, at least. We will see.
Moving on to the Hololens, this is more unfamiliar territory. Microsoft is building hardware this time, and not software. Paired with HTC on the project. The microsoft hololens is purely amazing, with a prototype already made. In fact, the project called for a completely new type of computer chip, a HPU (Holographic processing unit). While some people may compare it to Google Glass or other technologies, it is far more impressive. It is capable of producing real holograms and tricking the brain into thinking that light is matter. If I have ever seen the future, the hololens is it. It has been in production for 7 years in Microsoft, and it has unbelievable promise. Let’s hope it works out; this could lead to major innovations and uses which go beyond our wildest dreams. Heres a video released by Microsoft about the hololens
Last, a change to a long lasting legacy. Internet explorer, which is the pre-installed web browser for Microsoft, is finally getting replaced. Not by a new internet explorer, but with something called “Spartan”. There isn’t much news about spartan; it is a relatively new project. However, we do know that it will not be coming out with Windows 10, which I am glad for. While others might criticize Microsoft for not releasing it with Windows 10, most of these individuals don’t see the importance of fully developing software before release. Over the years, I have found that incomplete software/un-updated software tends to be virus prone. Its in the best interest of Microsoft and their customers that they do not release Spartan when it’s not finished.
