How to Bulldoze an Ecosystem

97% of the biosphere where life exists, providing the water we drink and the air we breather, is getting destroyed.

The process that's taking away so much, and recovering so little.

Overfishing:

1. Overfishing is simply when fish and other marine species are being caught faster then they can reproduce.
2. Currently 3/4 of the world's fish stock are being captured faster then they can reproduce.
3. Eighty percent are already in decline with ninety percent of large fish already gone. (Tuna, swordfish, shark, cod)
4. By 2050 world food fisheries could collapse entirely.

Fishing Operations:

1. Forty percent of trawling occurs in water deeper then 200 meters.
2. 8 to 25 percent of the total catch is discarded due to most of the catch bringing in unwanted species, most of the fish that are discarded usually die soon after. (That's 27 million tons thrown out each year)
3. 300,000  whales, dolphins, and other porpoises die when they get entangled in fishing nets.

Trawling:

1. Most shrimp are caught through bottom trawling.(Dragging a net between two trawl doors across the ocean bed)
2. Bottom trawling is similar to forest clear-cutting(Where all trees in an area are cut down) and its effects can be seen from space.
3. Ninety five percent of damage to sea mount systems is caused by bottom trawling
