- Briefly explain why you are interested in studying your topic: A man that is somehow related to me is very passionate about making family trees; after connecting me to his family tree and adding me as a friend on Facebook, I have been able to see his posts with information about the conflict between Russia and the Ukraine. I think that the situation is very serious and could lead to even bigger conflict in the future. Also, I have spoken with a few people about this and have been surprised by how little some people know about the situation.
- The overall question I plan on answering by the end of the project: What should governments do to bring peace between Russia and the Ukraine?
- Sub questions I will need to answer in order to answer the overall question: Background information? How has Russia justified its actions? What people support the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula? What people are against it? How have the people of the Ukraine and Russia been affected? How many have died? How is the Ukraine retaliating? How are the United States and other nations involved? What is the best way that other governments can help? What should the Ukrainian and Russian governments do?
- My plan of research (what specific Library Databases, specific websites, names of authors, people, etc. will I pursue to find the answers to the questions above): I plan to use databases such as Global Issues in Context and Student Resources in Context. I will also use news websites, such as CNN, to stay updated on the current situation. Finally, I will use Robert T., the family tree guy, as a reference point because he posts news videos and articles about the situation almost daily.
