Class Warfare

The flat tax may have benefits to certain people but also causes many problems for others.

“But the proposed flat tax is, in fact, class warfare—yet another attempt to reduce the tax obligations of higher-income households in exchange for the unenforceable hope or promise that they might use the money to invest and create jobs, maybe even jobs in the United States.”

I somewhat agree with this statement because yes, the flat tax does take all of the burden off the higher-income people, but it is not their job to use the money they worked hard for to pay for government handouts. I do agree that these upper class people should use the money they make to help others, but they should not be forced to. They should have the right and the ability to choose what they do with the money they have worked so hard to get.The flat tax gives those people that ability of choice. It gives them the freedom and equality that comes with being an American.

I do not agree with this statement because I believe we should at least try a new tax system. If we tried the flat tax and it does not work the way it should, then we could come back to the progressive tax. Yes, people may be skeptical to try new things, especially a new tax system, but it could end up benefitting us in the end. The flat tax, makes things equal and easier, when it comes to tax season. Employer-provided health insurance should be paid by an employer and not by the government. We should not assuming things would end bad for us economically if we implemented the flat tax when we won’t even test it.
