What is happening with sexual harassment in the military?

• Briefly explain why you are interested in studying your topic: I am interested in studying this topic because I am going into the military. In less than two months I will be at basic training and dealing with these problems first hand. I want to know what I’m going into so I don’t let it happen to me. When I go to military events such as taking my tests and physicals, the personnel there never stop talking about how sexual assault needs to be reported. It intrigued me to see the seriousness of the issue.

• The overall question I plan on answering by the end of the project: How does sexual harassment affect the reputation of the military?

• Sub questions I will need to answer in order to answer the overall question: Where is it happening? Is the military working to prevent it?

• My plan for research: I plan on using news websites like Huffington Post and CNN for my research. I will also look into interviews with actual women who were victimized while in the military.
